Rubio says Washington is not negotiating Canada’s accession to the United States

The US State Department is not negotiating to join Canada as the 51st state. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, informs Fox News.
Rubio noted that Washington is reviewing economic relations with its closest neighbors, which, according to US President Donald Trump, are unfair, but the issue of Canada’s accession to the US is not under consideration.
“I think right now we’re focused on what’s a priority for us, which is the tariffs. That’s obviously going to affect our relationship with them. We’re still neighbors. We’ll always be neighbors.” – emphasized the state secretary.
We will remind that on February 2, US President Donald Trump said that if Canada becomes the 51st US state, it will be able to get lower tariffs and better military protection.
