An innovative round-the-clock waste sorting capsule was opened in Ukraine
Capsules are available to all citizens at any time, without queues and with a clear mechanism of use. They are created on the basis of converted sea containers that receive a “second life”. Containers for different types of waste and information materials with instructions are placed inside.
The project is aimed at making sorting convenient and understandable for city dwellers, as well as contributing to the formation of a new culture of environmental responsibility. The opening of the second station was a continuation of scaling up the initiative of mobile sorting points, which are planned to be opened in other regions of Ukraine.
“Such projects are an example of real ecological transformation, where the state, business and public initiatives work together. We strive to make modern waste management infrastructure available to every Ukrainian. It’s not only about comfort, but also about consciousness — the formation of a culture of sorting, which is the foundation of the circular economy, which should become the norm for the entire country,” Yehor Perelyhin noted.
The NGO “Ukraine without garbage” explained that the “Sorting Capsule” project is designed to digitize all processes – from collection to recycling – through the “E-Waste” platform, to determine the real volumes of garbage in order to attract investments and build new recycling enterprises, as well as to make sorting a part of state policy. This will allow, thanks to digital services, economic incentives and joint responsibility of citizens, to ensure a systemic approach, and not just the implementation of individual initiatives.
The second “Sorting Capsule” is located in the parking lot of the “Epicentr” shopping center in Chabany, Kyiv region. Registered NO WASTE CLUB residents have access.
Let us remind you that “Sorting Capsules” became the first network of innovative sorting stations in Ukraine, which is being developed by the NGO “Ukraine without garbage” in partnership with state institutions and businesses. The first such capsule was opened in 2023 in Kyiv.
