An official of the Ministry of Defense was notified of the suspicion of causing losses to the state in the amount of 322 million hryvnias

Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Prosecutor General’s Office notified of suspicion to the acting director of the Department of State Procurement and supply of material resources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. As a result of such actions, losses in the amount of 322 million hryvnias were caused to the state.
Investigators established that in 2022, the official, violating the legislation in the field of public procurement, concluded two contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Defense for the supply of drinking water for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which turned out to be unprofitable for the state.
According to the investigation, the official improperly fulfilled his official duties: he did not conduct an analysis of market prices, did not check the calculations provided by suppliers, did not ensure compliance with the principles of economy and efficient use of public funds.
The official was informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – the negligent attitude of a military official to the service, which caused serious consequences in the conditions of martial law.
The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigation under the operational support of the Main Operational Department of the SBI. Currently, investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the offense are ongoing, including the circle of persons who could have been involved in making unprofitable decisions.
