The Ministry of Finance allows one more adjustment of the State Budget for 2025 due to defense needs
The state budget of Ukraine for 2025 may be revised again in the event of a growing need for financing the security and defense sector. reported this by Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.
He emphasized that the current situation at the front may force the government to further increase resources for the defense forces.
“Will we turn to the additional need for the Security and Defense Sector? Yes, indeed, there is such a possibility that we will be forced to change the 2025 budget once again to increase the resources of the Security and Defense Sector, the minister emphasized.
According to him, this is due solely to the situation on the battlefield, and the government is ready to act promptly, even if difficult decisions have to be made. Marchenko noted that consultations are already underway with representatives of the law enforcement agencies, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the First Deputy Prime Minister to determine the optimal mechanism and terms of possible additional funding.
“We understand how we will cover the additional need, it remains to decide the format of support and the moment when we will come up with a proposal to the parliament. We hope for understanding from the people’s deputies, added Serhiy Marchenko.
