Apple to release MacBook cheaper than iPhone
Technology company Apple is preparing to release a new laptop that will cost less than most of its smartphones. This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, the new model will have a longer battery life. It will be aimed at users who mostly browse the web, work with documents or perform basic editing.
The device, codenamed J700, will receive a processor from the iPhone and an inexpensive LCD display. The screen will be the smallest among all current Mac models – its diagonal will be slightly smaller than the 13.6 inches installed in the MacBook Air.
This will be the first time that Apple has used an iPhone processor in a Mac laptop instead of a specially designed chip for computers. At the same time, internal tests have shown that the processor from a smartphone can perform even better than the M1 chip used in the MacBook a few years ago.
The release of the J700 model is scheduled for the first half of 2026. According to the agency, this step will mark a strategic turn for the company, which has traditionally relied on premium devices with high profitability.
