Адміністрація Президента США Дональда Трампа розпочала масштабні скорочення в Агентстві з міжнародного розвитку (USAID), які зачеплять тисячі працівників. Про це йдеться в офіційній заяві на сайті USAID. Згідно з повідомленням, 24 лютого більшість співробітників агентства по всьому світу будуть відправлені в адміністративну відпустку. Виняток зроблять для тих, хто відповідає за виконання критично важливих завдань, спеціальних програм та керівництво. “USAID також розпочинає скорочення штату, що зачепить приблизно 1 600 співробітників у США”, – йдеться в заяві. Працівникам, які перебувають за кордоном, пропонується повернутися до США за державний кошт та отримати певні компенсації. Під скорочення можуть потрапити близько 2 000 співробітників, які працюють за межами країни. Нагадаємо, що 20 січня Дональд Трамп підписав указ про тимчасове призупинення всіх програм зовнішньої допомоги США на 90 днів для їхньої перевірки та оцінки відповідності політичним пріоритетам адміністрації. Це безпосередньо вплинуло на діяльність агентства USAID, заснованого у 1961 році.
