Behind bars instead of parliament: more than 50 people’s deputies are suspected of crimes
According to the HONEST Movement, at least 54 people’s representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation came under the watchful eye of law enforcement officers. They are suspected of committing criminal offenses, mainly of a corruption and anti-state nature.
The leaders of the sad rating were the representatives of “Servants of the People” and the banned OPZZ.
Corruption Octopus:
- 25 People’s Deputies were mired in corruption schemes.
- 13 of them “forgot” to indicate in their declarations their assets worth millions.
- 6 people’s elected officials wanted to “lighten” the wallets of bribe-takers
- 12 deputies are suspected of crimes against national security.
Some of them cooperated with the enemy, others encroached on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Other “sins” of people’s deputies:
- Official forgery for traveling abroad.
- Fraud.
- Tax evasion.
- “Button-mashing.”
- Death threats.
- Only 11 out of 42 People’s Deputies who have suspicions received court sentences. Most escaped punishment due to “outdated” crimes or due to remorse.
- 11 parliamentarians have already been deprived of their mandates, but the rest, not burdened by prison cells, continue to vote in the Council
Let’s remember:
According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in a legal manner. Elected representatives who disrespect the law have no right to represent the interests of the Ukrainian people.
