Biden presented a closed report on Ukraine to Congress: Reuters

The administration of US President Joe Biden handed over a classified report to Congress outlining the strategy for the war in Ukraine, informs Reuters, citing its own sources.

A Reuters source close to the congressman’s aide said that members of Congress had not yet had the opportunity to review the document. The White House declined to comment on the situation.

In April 2024, after long delays, the US House of Representatives approved the allocation of $61 billion in financial aid to Ukraine. A significant part of the funds was also directed to support Israel.

However, Congress demanded that the Biden administration present a detailed strategy for Ukraine by early June. As Reuters points out, a significant part of both Democrats and Republicans support Biden’s policy on Ukraine, but some Republicans are critical of the fact that the White House does not disclose strategic plans.

After several weeks of the report’s deadline and the document still not being presented, some members of Congress have expressed their displeasure and are considering blocking further funding to Ukraine.

“When they did not respond to our requests, we legislated to send the strategy to Congress, but the deadline passed and there was no response. President Biden and Vice President Harris must provide a strategy not only to us, but also to the American people, and their failure to do so speaks volumes that they don’t have it or are afraid to share it”, Senator Jim Risch, the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, explained to Reuters.

The US continues to regularly provide military aid to Ukraine. In particular, on September 6, the White House announced a new arms package for Kyiv worth $250 million, which includes missiles and armored vehicles.
