More than 250 searches were conducted in Moldova in connection with the preparation of mass riots

On Monday, law enforcement officers conducted more than 250 searches in several populated areas of Moldova as part of the case of preparation for mass riots and destabilization. This was reported by the General Inspectorate of the country’s police, reports NewsMaker.

“Investigators, PCCOCS prosecutors, Fulger brigade fighters and SIB officers conducted more than 250 searches this morning. More than 100 people from different settlements of the country appear in the operation. The searches are related to a criminal case regarding the preparation of mass riots and destabilization, which was coordinated from the Russian Federation through criminal elements,” law enforcement officers reported.

According to the police, the searches took place both at the suspects and in some penitentiary institutions. Their results will be announced later.

Ihor Dodon, the ex-president of Moldova, around whom the pro-Russian “Patriotic Bloc” was formed, announced the search of his associates in the north of the country. He specified that they referred to the heads of territorial units in Drochia and Ryshkany. Dodon accused the ruling Action and Solidarity party (PAS) of “attempting to intimidate” the opposition ahead of the elections.

Let us remind you that at the beginning of September, the Central Election Commission of Moldova registered the “Patriotic Electoral Bloc” formed around Ihor Dodon. It included the “Party of Socialists” under his leadership, as well as the “Heart of Moldova” and “Future of Moldova” parties. This political association became the third to submit documents for participation in the parliamentary elections after PAS and “Democracy at Home”.
