The US Air Force in Europe noted that flights of small unmanned aerial vehicles were recorded near the Lakenheath, Mildenhall, Feltwell and Fairford bases. At this time, base management has not identified any impact of these flights on facilities, assets or residents. The statement also stated that the US Air Force is taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the bases and their residents.
“We’re taking it seriously. We’re continuing to study it. But it hasn’t had a significant impact on the mission at this point.” Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder emphasized.
Royal Lakenheath Air Force Base, located in eastern England, is a key staging area for the United States Air Force’s 48th Fighter Wing, which maintains combat readiness in Europe. The base hosts stealth F-35 fighter jets and other military aircraft.
