Canadians began to ignore American goods in protest against Trump’s policies

A majority of Canadian consumers said they have started to ignore American-made goods in protest of US President Donald Trump’s harsh remarks about Canada and his recent decision to impose new import tariffs. About this informs Vancouverite.
According to a survey by Leger Marketing, the largest social research company in Canada, two-thirds of respondents said that in recent weeks they have sharply reduced the amount of purchases of American goods in stores. At the same time, 55% of respondents began to order products on Amazon less often.
Some Canadian provinces have begun removing US alcohol from their shelves in response to Trump’s tariffs. Also, the Prime Minister of Ontario terminated all contracts with the Starlink company worth $100 million and forbade participation in US government procurement.
Trump’s rhetoric, including his threats to use “economic force” against Canada and his humiliating proposal to join the country as the 51st US state, has sparked a wave of patriotism among Canadians. Lists of local producers are being actively distributed on social networks, people are canceling or postponing trips to the US, and during public events they even protest by booing the American national anthem.
