Children injured on cable car in Kyiv: police open criminal proceedings

An extraordinary event took place in the capital’s “Peremoha” Park – two children were seriously injured while riding on the cable car. Kyiv police reported on the opening of criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of safety rules.

According to preliminary data, while driving on the attraction, the children collided in the air. As a result of the impact, both were injured. The rescuers quickly removed the victims from the height, after which they were taken to the hospital. A ten-year-old girl suffered a broken arm, and a twelve-year-old boy was hospitalized with chest and abdominal injuries.

The police have already opened two criminal proceedings: under Part 1 of Article 271 of the Labor Code (violation of the requirements of labor protection legislation) and Part 1 of Article 137 of the Labor Code (improper performance of duties regarding the protection of children’s life and health). As part of the investigation, the law enforcement officers seized parts of the cable car equipment, attraction documentation, as well as video recordings from the scene. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.

We remind you that this is not the first such case in Kyiv. Earlier, a 14-year-old teenager fell from a rope course in one of the capital’s parks, suffering numerous injuries. The circumstances of both cases raise concerns about the safety of children’s attractions and the level of control by the responsible services.
