Chinese AI DeepSeek blocked in Italy

In Italy, the use of the Chinese application based on artificial intelligence DeepSeek was banned. About this informs local regulator Garante.

The Italian regulator turned to the Chinese companies “Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence” and “Beijing DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence”, which developed this chatbot. Garante requested clarification on the purpose of data collection and its storage in China.

The response received turned out to be unsatisfactory: the Chinese companies stated that they do not operate in Italy and, therefore, are not subject to European legislation. After that, Garante launched an investigation and the app disappeared from digital stores in the country.

We will remind that former US President Donald Trump called the Chinese artificial intelligence DeepSeek an “alarm signal” for the US, emphasizing its low cost and high efficiency.
