Circuses – life during the occupation (memories of the indomitable Nina)

In the small village of Tsirkuny during the occupation, a real struggle for life unfolded along with tears, pain and thirst for freedom. Step by step, every day became a test that awaited local residents on this path of survival. The Russian shadow of the occupation left its dramatic traces and enveloped the village in cold longing, but in the midst of this sea of sorrow and grief, the fire of community and mutual support gave hope that was justified.

During her trip to Tsirkuny, the journalist of IA “FAKT” Anna Bezhenska had an incredible opportunity to meet with local residents. Read about one of these meetings our previous material.
Now we will get to know another real symbol of strength and dignity – local resident Nina, who told her story during the worst days of the Russian occupation. This woman really does not know the word “surrender”, because she never once took down the Ukrainian flag from her house during the occupation of Tsirkuny. Her story is a story of light in the darkness where every day was a test for survival. We will tell and show you courage and faith, which will remain in the hearts of those who hear her words.

This interview is another piece of hope in the stream of difficult times, a touch to the soul that will never be forgotten. Going through hunger, cold, betrayals, but holding the flag of her nation high – these are just a few moments of Nina’s life story.  The heart of the small village of Tsyrkuny beat only because of the people’s dream of the day when they would again see a peaceful sky above their heads and when their free Ukrainian land would be restored.
So let this next story be a testimony of our Ukrainian indomitability. People don’t give up, they don’t obey, and we will always remember all this, because our strength is in faith, will and unshakable determination to go through any trials, keeping our ideals high and dignified, no matter what trials fate prepares .
