The Ukrainian Defense Forces were forced to abandon positions near five settlements in two directions in the Zaporizhia region. This was reported by the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“In Zaporizhia, in particular in the Oleksandrivka and Hulyaipil directions, intense fighting has been going on for several days in a row. The enemy is using all types of available weapons to displace the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the positions they hold”, Voloshyn noted.
According to him, up to a hundred clashes have been recorded in this area in recent days. Due to the intensification of enemy assault operations — more than 400 artillery shells per day using about two thousand ammunition — Ukrainian units, in order to save the lives of personnel, withdrew from positions near the settlements of Novouspenivske, Novye, Okhotnyche, Uspenivka and Novomykolaivka.
“The enemy is trying to bring their reinforcement groups into these settlements, but the Ukrainian defenders are doing their best to counteract their attempts to hold out”, the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces added.
Voloshyn also reported that fierce fighting continues for Rivnepillya, Solodke and Yablukove. The enemy is seeking to capture Hulyaipole from the eastern direction and cut off the logistical routes leading from Pokrovsk.
