Державний секретар США Марко Рубіо заявив, що Сполучені Штати можуть відмовитися від зусиль досягти миру в Україні, якщо стане очевидним, що це недосяжна мета. Про це повідомляє BFMTV. “Ми повинні визначити найближчими днями, чи можливий (мир), чи ні, і якщо це неможливо, ми повинні рухатися далі, тому що Сполучені Штати мають інші пріоритети”, — зазначив Рубіо. Державний секретар США прибув до Парижа в четвер, 17 квітня, щоб взяти участь у перших переговорах щодо України за участю представників США, Європи та України. Зустрічі відбулися на тлі застою у мирних ініціативах, які просуває Вашингтон, тоді як європейські партнери намагаються активніше впливати на процес. Водночас міністр закордонних справ Франції Жан-Ноель Барро назвав паризькі зустрічі 17 квітня дипломатичним успіхом Франції, яка змогла об’єднати за одним столом представників США, Європи та України. Спецпредставник президента США з питань України Кіт Келлог також заявив про “дуже продуктивні” перемовини в Парижі й опублікував фото зі спільної зустрічі з керівником ОП Андрієм Єрмаком та міністром оборони України Рустемом Умєровим.

“We have to determine in the coming days whether (peace) is possible or not, and if it’s not possible, we have to move on because the United States has other priorities.” Rubio noted.
The US Secretary of State arrived in Paris on Thursday, April 17, to take part in the first talks on Ukraine involving representatives of the US, Europe and Ukraine. The meetings took place against a background of stagnation in the peace initiatives promoted by Washington, while European partners are trying to influence the process more actively.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barro, called the Paris meetings on April 17 a diplomatic success of France, which was able to unite the representatives of the USA, Europe and Ukraine at one table.
Keith Kellogg, the US president’s special representative for Ukraine, also declared that the talks in Paris were “very productive” and published a photo of a joint meeting with the head of the OP Andriy Yermak and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.
