Dnipro doctors saved a soldier whose bullet went through his head and stuck in his neck
Doctors claim that the injury miraculously did not end the life of Ruslan, who served in the Donetsk direction, just on the battlefield.

In Dnipro, medics of the Mechnikov Hospital performed a unique operation, saving the life of a wounded soldier. Ruslan was seriously wounded in the Donetsk direction – a bullet hit him in the eye, went through his head and got stuck in the cervical vertebra. Doctors used a unique technique and removed the bullet through the mouth.
This unique case was told on the air of the “Edyny Novyni” telethon. According to medics, Ruslan miraculously survived on the battlefield – any movement after the injury could have been fatal. Extracting the bullet was extremely risky, so the doctors decided to remove it through the mouth.
“99% of wounded people do not survive in such cases, so the guardian angel saved the man and saved his life”, – says Serhiy Ryzhenko, the chief doctor of the Mechnikov Hospital.
Ruslan said that on the battlefield he felt that he had lost an eye, but he did not realize the seriousness of the injury. Doctors developed a unique technique and performed an operation to remove the bullet, which was stuck just a few millimeters from the spinal cord.
“It was a very difficult and risky operation, because in addition to removing the bullet, the doctors needed to preserve the man’s quality of life – so that he could speak, walk and breathe on his own.”, said the surgeon.
Now Ruslan is recovering after the operation. His goal is to leave the hospital as soon as possible and hug his 7-year-old daughter.
Doctors of the Mechnikov hospital save the lives of soldiers every day, using the latest technologies and methods. Their professionalism and dedication help to preserve the lives and health of Ukrainian defenders who stand in defense of the country.
