Dog handlers of the National Police of Ukraine received special training in searching for drugs and weapons in the United States
Canine specialists of the National Police of Ukraine adopted the experience of the USA in the search for explosives, weapons, drugs, as well as the technique of arresting criminals and stopping mass riots with the use of service dogs. About this reported press service of the National Police.
The delegation included representatives of the canine services of the police of Kyiv, Lviv, Kherson and Sumy regions, headed by Svitlana Kolomiets, head of the Department of Organization of Canine Activities of the National Police. The visit was organized with the support of the Howard Buffett Foundation.
During the visit, the Ukrainian policemen visited the Police Department of the city of Decatur in the state of Illinois, where they were introduced to the work of investigators, special forces and canine experts. At the Police Academy, they were also able to learn about the specifics of training American colleagues for service.
During the five-day training, which took place on the basis of a modern canine center, Ukrainian law enforcement officers studied methods of finding explosives, weapons and drugs, arresting criminals and stopping mass riots using service dogs. In addition, they improved their shooting skills in a virtual shooting range.
Ukrainian dog experts also shared their experience of working during a full-scale war, in particular in searching for people under rubble after shelling, demining territories and detecting explosives and weapons.
