Each ODA will have a deputy for European integration and international aid: Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to create the positions of deputy heads of regional state administrations, who will be responsible for European integration and international technical assistance. About this reported Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“The government has adopted a decision according to which a deputy will appear in each regional administration, who will be responsible for issues of European integration and international technical assistance”, Shmyhal said during the Congress of local and regional authorities on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the European Union is ready to invest in Ukrainian regions and support regional development projects. To effectively use these opportunities, it is important to ensure institutional capacity on the ground.

Olga Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration added, that these new positions will be held by individuals who will have clearly defined powers. Their activities will be evaluated according to specific criteria.

According to Stefanishyna, the new deputies will be responsible for the implementation of European integration reforms in the regions and the mobilization of international technical assistance in accordance with the needs of the region. She also noted that at least 5% of the total budget of each region is expected to be raised through international aid funds.
