Estonia is launching a program to teach citizens how to fly drones
The Ministry of Defense of Estonia, together with the Defense League and the HK Unicorn Squad organization, signed a memorandum of cooperation. The purpose of the document is to teach adults how to fly drones. This is mentioned in the statement of the country’s defense department.
The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur and the commander of the Estonian Defense League, Major General Ilmar Tamm, together with representatives of the HK Unicorn Squad MTÜ. The government page emphasizes that the cooperation should popularize the training of flying drones among the population.
“We have recently started drone training in the first Estonian secondary schools. The MoU signed is another step forward as we begin training adults. This will give citizens the opportunity to develop their skills in the field of technology and contribute to the comprehensive national defense of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur stressed.
As part of the Defense League and HK Unicorn Squad initiative, MTÜ will begin offering basic drone training to those interested within the “Kuri Kotkas” training program. The program includes practical flight exercises that will help master the basics of using unmanned aerial vehicles in a military context.
“Estonians are interested in developing their drone skills, but don’t know where to start. Kuri Kotkas is a training program designed primarily for beginners, explained Taavi Kotka, founder of HK Unicorn Squad.
We remind you that in June courses on the military use of drones for volunteers led by Ukrainian instructors started in Estonia.
