European Council President condemns Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine

European Council President Antonio Costa condemned Russia’s massive missile attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian targets. In his post in X, he stressed that systematic and deliberate attacks on civilians are unacceptable.

According to Costa, the attacks on energy facilities are a cynical attempt to intimidate Ukrainians. He stressed that the European Union will continue to strongly support Ukraine.

“Such systematic and deliberate attacks on civilians are unacceptable. Attacks on energy infrastructure are a cynical attempt to intimidate the Ukrainian people,” he said.

The President of the European Council assured that, together with international partners, the EU will continue to assist Ukraine in the restoration, reconstruction and protection of its energy system.

“Russian aggression will not win. We support all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine,” Koshta concluded.

On the night of March 7, Russian troops carried out a large-scale combined attack on the territory of Ukraine. First, drones struck Sumy, where they recorded hits on residential and non-residential buildings. A drone also attacked Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region – it hit a private house, as a result of which two people were injured.

Later, a missile strike was launched on a five-story building in Kharkiv: one of the entrances was destroyed, there are dead and wounded. Later, missiles hit Novodniestrovsk in Chernivtsi region, and Zaporizhia was also shelled.

Due to the consequences of the attack and damage to railway infrastructure, some passenger trains in three regions were forced to change routes, and delays occurred.
