The Cabinet of Ministers approved a strategy to facilitate the movement and return of labor migrants
On September 3, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an action plan for 2024-2025 for the implementation of the State Migration Policy Strategy until 2025. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bohdan Drapyatyi. According to him, this act is aimed at correcting the shortcomings indicated in the recommendations of the European Commission, which were presented in the Report on the progress of Ukraine within the framework of the 2023 EU Enlargement Package.
According to the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers, the key points of the plan include:
- reducing the negative effects of emigration and strengthening its positive impact on the country’s development.
- promoting the freedom of movement of the population of Ukraine, in particular through the reduction of administrative barriers.
- creation of conditions for the return and reintegration of labor migrants, as well as citizens who received temporary protection abroad.
- integration of foreigners and stateless persons who are in Ukraine legally.
- introduction of mechanisms for the regularization of illegal migrants.
- protecting the rights and interests of internally displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes due to Russian aggression, and creating conditions for their return to Ukraine.
In addition, the government approved the maximum number of employees of territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which provide service services, in the amount of 3,175 people.
