Explosions in Kharkiv: night and morning under shelling

On the night of May 21, Kharkiv was attacked by Iranian kamikaze drones “Shahed-136/131”. The “East” air command reported the destruction of five such drones over the Kharkiv region.

Consequences of a night attack

In Kharkiv, hits were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi and Nemyshlyanskyi districts. Five people were injured, private and city cars, multi-story office buildings and residential buildings were damaged. Shelling of Lyptsi, Petropavlivka, Kindrashyvka, Kolodyazny and Ivashok was also recorded. There are casualties and damage to residential buildings and commercial premises.

Morning missile strike

Around 7:00 a.m. in Kharkiv, Russian troops launched a missile attack on a transport infrastructure facility. As a result of the impact, one person was injured.

Government response and infrastructure restoration

The movement of trains on the Oleksiivska metro line, which was temporarily stopped after the morning strike, has been resumed.
In connection with the damage to the energy infrastructure, additional power cuts are applied in Kharkiv and the region on May 21. “Kharkivoblenergo” has published an updated schedule of outages for May 21-25.

Comments of officials

Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov, warned about the drone attack and reported the consequences, including casualties and fires. He confirmed the rocket attack on the transport infrastructure object and the presence of the victim.

Oleg Sinegubov, head of Kharkiv OVA, reported about the fall of “Shakhed” wreckage at four locations in Kharkiv and about the person injured as a result of the morning strike.

Volodymyr Tymoshko, the head of the police of Kharkiv Region, provided a summary of the shelling of Kharkiv Region over the past day.
