Families of missing servicemen have been extended the deadline for receiving financial assistance

The Government of Ukraine decided to extend the deadline for receiving one-time cash assistance to the families of soldiers who were missing and later officially declared dead. The move aims to remove the bureaucratic hurdles often faced by relatives of missing defenders and ensure they are adequately supported.

For message of the Ministry of Defense, now the countdown of the deadline for submitting documents for receiving assistance begins not from the date indicated in the death certificate, but from the moment when the court’s decision to declare a military person dead comes into force. Such an innovation will avoid cases when close relatives of missing servicemen lost their right to assistance only because the court decision was made later than the previously established deadlines allowed.

Families now have three years from the date of entry into force of the court decision to submit documents and apply for a one-time benefit. This decision also expands the opportunities for families of fallen military personnel to receive the financial assistance they need to support and adapt to the loss of a loved one.

In addition, the government introduced an extraordinary payment of one-time cash assistance for persons with disabilities of group I, understanding their special needs for urgent and expensive treatment. This decision is of great importance, because it allows people with the most severe forms of disability to receive the necessary funds faster, which will help them provide medical care and improve their quality of life.

The government hopes that such initiatives will contribute to increasing the social protection of servicemen’s families, especially in difficult times of war. Such decisions are designed to support families, ensure proper care for persons with special needs, and facilitate the process of receiving help in critical situations.
