Farion Murder Accused Will Be Given Additional Protection Due To Threats

On January 13, during the hearing of the case regarding the murder of Iryna Farion, the court passed the decision to strengthen security measures during the transportation of the accused Vyacheslav Zinchenko. This is related to information about threats allegedly sent to him in social networks.

The board of judges of the Shevchenkiv District Court of Lviv satisfied the request of Zinchenko’s lawyers for additional protection during his transportation to and from the court.

“The panel of judges decided to oblige the commander of military unit 3002 to strengthen measures to ensure Zinchenko’s security measures. The decision is not subject to appeal.”, says the court’s decision.

Lawyer Yuriy Nemyrovsky justified this by the fact that the threats relate to the moment of transportation.

“We understand that nothing threatens him in the pretrial detention center. But the threat clearly sounded: I will kill him at the moment of leaving the car park.” – explained the lawyer.

In addition, the court considered the statement of Iryna Farion’s daughter, who demands compensation for moral damage in the amount of 15 million hryvnias. She plans to transfer these funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zinchenko’s lawyers asked for time to review this lawsuit. The hearing was adjourned and the case will continue on February 13.

We will remind that in January, the court extended the preventive measure for Vyacheslav Zinchenko, leaving him in custody without the possibility of posting bail for another 60 days, until March 4, 2025.
