Finland plans to introduce tariffs on all goods from the Russian Federation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, after a meeting in Warsaw with the head of Polish diplomacy, Radoslaw Sikorski, announced her intention to introduce tariffs on all imports from Russia. About this reports DW.

Speaking at the Warsaw Conference on the Human Dimension, Valtonen emphasized that Russian aggression against Ukraine violates the norms of international law and the principles of the Helsinki Final Act, undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, is accompanied by deportations, attacks on the civilian population and war crimes.

The minister emphasized that Finland and Poland actively cooperate in the field of security and remain steadfast in supporting Ukraine, as well as in restraining Russia’s ability to continue the war.

Sikorsky confirmed that Finland is a reliable ally of Poland within the EU and NATO, supports the idea of using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, and also noted the high level of Finland’s civil defense system and the importance of a joint fight against the Russian “shadow fleet” in the Baltic Sea.

Let us remind you that on September 27, Finland and Sweden announced the creation of a joint brigade numbering about 5,000 soldiers, which will be stationed in Finnish Lapland on the border with Russia. The core of the new unit will be the Swedish mechanized brigade “Norrbotten”, which specializes in combat operations in winter conditions; it has five battalions and support units.
