Five regions of Ukraine were left without electricity due to a strike on the power system on Christmas night
On Christmas Eve, Russian troops struck again at Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, resulting in power outages in five regions of the country.
Power outages were reported in Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Odessa regions. In Odessa region, the electricity shortage is also related to the consequences of previous attacks. This was announced during a briefing by Serhiy Suyarko, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, emergency and repair teams are working continuously to restore damaged networks as soon as possible and restore equipment for supplying electricity to subscribers.
Due to the difficult situation in the energy system, hourly outage schedules for the population, as well as capacity restrictions for commercial consumers, are applied throughout Ukraine on December 25. In addition, in order to stabilize the heating season, the government decided to strengthen control over compliance with legislation in the field of energy and heat supply, and also completed a competition for the creation of new generating capacities.
