US Defense Secretary warns Russia against interfering in Iran conflict
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a serious warning to Russia, urging it to refrain from interfering in the conflict with Iran in the Middle East East. This comment came after a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which took place on March 9, 2026. This was reported by CNN.
Gegset described the talks as “tough” and emphasized that the possibility of achieving peace in Russia’s war against Ukraine was discussed during the conversation. He noted that the United States has clearly warned Russia about the inadmissibility of any intervention in the war with Iran, which could lead to escalation in the Middle East and aggravation of the regional crisis.
It was previously reported that Russia provides Iran with intelligence that is used to launch strikes on American military facilities in the region. The Washington Post, citing three high-ranking officials, reported that Russia’s support for Iran is significant and includes strategic and military data.
Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Russia is helping the Iranian regime and it is already known what specific support it has provided. These facts raise concerns about the security of international forces and the stability of the region, and also emphasize the importance of monitoring Russia’s activities in the conflict zone.
Pentagon officials emphasize that any Russian intervention in the conflict in the Middle East could have serious consequences not only for the region, but also for global security. The United States continues to monitor the situation and coordinate actions with international partners to prevent escalation and ensure support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
