In 2024, access to free rehabilitation in Ukraine will be significantly expanded. Free rehabilitation care for patients is provided on an inpatient basis in 269 medical facilities throughout Ukraine and in 450 on an outpatient basis.
About this reported Minister of Health of Ukraine during the forum “Life of regions in conditions of war” within the framework of the Congress of local and regional authorities under the President of Ukraine in Chernivtsi.
According to the Minister of Health of Ukraine, as of April 2024:

- 450 medical facilities offer outpatient rehabilitation.
- Mental recovery centers function in each cluster hospital.
- Hubs for psycho-rehabilitation are being created at the national and regional levels (12 projects based on sanatoriums).
In order to improve the quality of services and increase the number of specialists, the following measures were taken:
- 7 centers of excellence have been created, where advanced rehabilitation techniques are implemented and specialists from all over the country are trained.
- A pilot project on dual education has been implemented for students of the “Therapy and Rehabilitation” specialty, which allows them to gain practical experience during their studies.
- Thanks to this, it is expected that already this year the need for physical therapist or occupational therapist assistants will be completely closed
- To ensure the safety of patients and doctors, the government allocated 1 billion hryvnias to expand the network of shelters in medical facilities.
“Do not hesitate to ask for help! Rehabilitation is an important stage of recovery after injuries, operations, strokes and other diseases. Free rehabilitation assistance is available to everyone who needs it in Ukraine“, Viktor Lyashko urged.
