French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has resigned
On October 6, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu submitted a resignation letter to President Emmanuel Macron, which the president accepted. About this reports BFM TV.
“The prime minister appointed on September 9 came under criticism from the opposition and right-wing political forces after presenting part of his government“ on Sunday night, BFM TV notes.
Let us remind you that on October 5, French President Emmanuel Macron formed a new government. Former Minister of Finance Bruno Le Maire, who previously served as Prime Minister, became the new Minister of Defense. Roland Lescure was appointed as the Minister of Finance. The new government has 5 new ministers, another 13 have been reappointed from the previous government of François Bayrou.
On September 9, Emmanuel Macron elected Sebastien Lecorne as Prime Minister of France, after which former Prime Minister Francois Bayrou resigned on the same day.
In France, the prime minister is appointed by the president without the consent of the parliament, but the parliament can at any time initiate a vote of no confidence, after which the prime minister and his government must resign.
Sébastien Lecornu adhered to the policy of supporting Ukraine. Thus, on May 17, he stated the importance of strengthening the Ukrainian army in the medium and long term. On June 6, Lecornu reported that French companies in the field of automobile construction and defense will produce drones on the territory of Ukraine.
