The United States wants to assess the risks in the event of an end to aid to Ukraine

American lawmakers are urging the heads of the main US intelligence services to assess the potential threats to national security in the event of an end to aid to Ukraine and a possible Russian victory in the war. About this informs The Hill.

Lawmakers are proposing to include the provision in the National Defense Authorization Act, which must be considered in the House of Representatives.

According to the initiative, the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Director of the Main Intelligence Directorate should submit a report entitled “Assessment of the probable course of the war in Ukraine”. The document should consider the consequences for the United States depending on the scenarios of continuation or termination of defense and economic support to Ukraine, as well as on the decision to use long-range missiles for strikes on the territory of Russia.

In addition, the report should cover the impact of a possible defeat of Ukraine on US national security interests, including the risks of further aggression by Russia, China, Iran or North Korea.

“The report shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may have a classified appendix, and shall be sent to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, as well as the House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Appropriations Committees.”, – says the initiative.
