General defense exercises for civilians to begin in Poland

A pilot program of defense training for civilians will start in Poland at the end of November 2025, within the framework of which every adult citizen will be able to undergo a one-day training course. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz, RMF24 reports.

The universal defense training program “wReady” will begin on November 22 and will last until December 14. All adult citizens of the country will be able to participate in it, and the limit of the pilot stage is 25 thousand people. The classes will take place on weekends, last one day and will cover several areas: safety and survival, medical training and the basics of cyber hygiene.

In the future, the program will be expanded – children, schoolchildren, employees of enterprises, companies and the elderly will be able to join it, both individually and in groups. The implementation of the initiative will be ensured by 132 units, mainly territorial defense forces, with the support of the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces. The full readiness of the program is expected in early 2026.

Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk specified that during 2026 it is planned to train about 400 thousand people within the framework of the programs “Education with the Army”, reserve training and voluntary military service. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that participation in such training is not equivalent to military service and does not involve taking an oath or being included in the lists of reservists.
