Germany and Israel plan to create a “cyber dome”

Germany and Israel plan to create a joint cyber defense system — the so-called “cyber dome” — as part of expanding defense cooperation. Its purpose is to ensure effective and coordinated protection of both countries against cyber threats. About this stated German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, Reuters reports.

The deepening of cooperation between the intelligence and security structures of Germany and Israel involves the creation of a joint center for cyber research.

“Military defense alone is not sufficient for this security inflection point. A significant upgrade of civil defense is also essential to strengthen our overall defense capabilities.”, – noted Dobrindt during his visit to Israel.

The minister, who recently joined Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government, presented a five-step plan that should become the basis for creating a “cyberdome.” The cyber units of the security services of both countries will participate in its implementation.

Germany is one of Israel’s closest allies in Europe. Berlin is eager to adopt Israel’s experience in the defense field, especially given the current build-up of its own military capabilities due to growing threats from Russia and China.
