Great Britain to supply 100,000 drones to Ukraine within a year
Great Britain has undertaken to supply Ukraine with 100,000 drones by the end of the current financial year in April 2026. About this informs Reuters.
The volume of planned deliveries of UAVs is ten times greater than the previous ones. The drone package, worth 350 million pounds ($473 million), is part of a larger program of military aid to Ukraine, estimated at 4.5 billion pounds.
Defense Minister John Geely is expected to officially announce the new commitments at the Rammstein-style meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine scheduled for June 4 in Brussels.
“The UK is stepping up its support for Ukraine, delivering hundreds of thousands more drones this year and completing a major milestone in the delivery of critical artillery munitions,” – said Gili on the eve of the meeting.
The delivery of 140,000 British artillery shells was completed in January. In addition to drones, Great Britain intends to spend another 247 million pounds this year on the training of Ukrainian military personnel.
It will be recalled that on June 2, the British government approved the Strategic Defense Review, which emphasizes the need to create a more “deadly”, technologically equipped army capable of effectively countering modern threats, in particular, potential aggression from Russia. The document also states that Great Britain intends to take into account the experience of the more than three-year defense of Ukraine against the Russian invasion, during which drones fundamentally changed the nature of hostilities.
