Religious organizations will advise the Ministry of Defense on the nutrition of military personnel in accordance with canonical norms
The procurement agency of the Ministry of Defense “State Rear Operator” signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Spiritual Administration of the Supreme Mufti of Crimea and the representative of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine within the framework of the initiative to organize food for servicemen in accordance with religious and canonical requirements. “Within the framework of cooperation, it is envisaged that religious communities will provide recommendations on the implementation and development of the food system for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with religious and canonical norms (halal/kosher)”. – the message says.
Within the framework of the agreements, the parties agreed on further coordination, support of manufacturers, as well as familiarization with the processes of compliance with the requirements directly at the factories. Producers already participating in the consultations continue to adapt technological processes to halal and kosher standards.
Cooperation includes the exchange of experience in the field of development and production of dry rations, coordination of actions to ensure compliance with technological requirements and preservation of the authenticity of processes, holding consultations with specialists and representatives of religious communities regarding the formulation and production technology, as well as organizing seminars, work meetings and test inspections.
The DOT emphasized that this initiative is part of the Ministry of Defense’s general course of implementing people-centric solutions in the field of rear support. It aims not only to improve the quality and safety of food, but also to guarantee the realization of the right of servicemen of the Armed Forces to freedom of religion.
