GUR fighters hit a Russian missile ship in the Sea of ​​Azov

On August 28, in the Sea of ​​Azov, the Ukrainian military hit the Russian small missile ship Buyan-M, which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles. This is reported by the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“On August 28, 2025, as a result of a joint operation of the Department of Active Actions of the Defense Ministry of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the special unit of the Defense Ministry “Ghosts” in the Sea of ​​Azov near the temporarily occupied Crimea, a small missile ship of the aggressor state of Russia of project 21631 “Buyan-m” – a carrier of cruise missiles was hit “Calibre””, says the message.

Fighters of the GUR special unit “Ghosts” with the help of an attack drone, they damaged the ship’s radar, after which special forces attacked the side of the missile carrier. As a result of the attacks, the ship, which was in the potential launch zone in Temryutka Bay, was damaged and was forced to leave the combat duty area.

Small rocket ship of Russia project 21631 “Buyan-M” intended for operations in coastal waters and inland seas. Its length is about 73 meters, displacement – about 949 tons, draft – about 2.5 meters. The vessel can develop a speed of up to 25 knots and has a sailing autonomy of up to 15 days.

The ship’s armament includes “Calibre” cruise missiles, “Redoubt” anti-aircraft systems, a 76 mm artillery mount and several machine gun emplacements for defense. The crew consists of about 52 people, the ship is equipped with modern communication systems and radar complexes for conducting combat operations in the coastal zone.
