HACC convicted the ex-prosecutor and ex-deputy of the Odesa Regional Council for a bribe of $40 thousand

On April 2, the panel of judges of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HCAC) passed a guilty verdict against a former deputy of the Odesa Regional Council and a former deputy head of the Izmail Local Prosecutor’s Office (Odesa Region), who were found guilty of accepting a bribe of USD 40,000. “On April 2, 2025, the panel of judges of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced a guilty verdict against the former deputy head of the Izmail local prosecutor’s office of the Odesa region and a former deputy of the Odesa regional council, who were exposed for receiving $40,000 in illegal benefits from the director of an economic enterprise for not obstructing the conduct of business.” – the message says.
The court found the ex-deputy guilty of committing a crime under part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state and local self-government bodies, except for elected ones, for three years. A decision was also made to confiscate all property belonging to him by right of ownership. In addition, the court changed the preventive measure, increasing the bail to UAH 5 million and imposing additional procedural obligations.
The former deputy head of the local prosecutor’s office was also found guilty under Part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the justice system – judge, lawyer, prosecutor – for a period of three years, as well as confiscation of all property belonging to him. In addition, he was deprived of the class rank of adviser of justice.
The verdict can be appealed within 30 days from the day of its announcement by submitting an appeal to the Appeals Chamber of the VAKS.
