Hungary expels two Ukrainian diplomats: they are accused of ‘espionage’.

Hungary announced the expulsion of two employees of the Ukrainian embassy, accusing them of allegedly “espionage in favor of Ukraine.” This happened against the background of the notification of the Security Service of Ukraine about the exposure of the Hungarian military intelligence agency network, which acted to the detriment of the Ukrainian state. It is not specified who exactly it was decided to expel. About this informs Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjártó.

He accused the Ukrainian side of “slandering” Hungary and of “anti-Hungarian propaganda campaign”.

“That is why today we expelled from Hungary two spies who worked under diplomatic cover in the Ukrainian embassy in Budapest. We handed over the decision and the note to the ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest in the last few minutes here in our office.”, – said Sijarto.

He also claimed that Ukraine is allegedly spreading false accusations as a reaction to Budapest’s reluctance to “get involved in a war” started by Russia, to the refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine, as well as to the blocking of its European integration.

We will remind that on the morning of May 9, during a press conference, the head of Hungarian diplomacy accused Ukraine of “propaganda” against Hungary and rejected all accusations of espionage.

Prior to this, the SBU announced that for the first time in the history of Ukraine, it had exposed the Hungarian military intelligence agency network that operated in Zakarpattia Oblast. According to the investigation, the network was engaged in collecting information about the military security of the region, potential vulnerabilities in the defense system, as well as the mood of the local population in the event of a possible entry of Hungarian troops.
