Ihor Terekhov appealed to HOVA and oblenergo with a request not to cut off the power supply in Kharkiv

The Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov made an official request to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleg Sinegubov and the management of JSC “Kharkivoblenergo” to prevent the introduction of electricity blackout schedules in the city. About this informs press service of the Kharkiv City Council.

In his address, Terekhov emphasized that Kharkiv has been in the front-line zone for more than two and a half years and is constantly subjected to armed aggression from the Russian Federation. During this time, the city suffered significant destruction due to bombings, rocket attacks and shelling, which resulted in the damage and destruction of thousands of residential buildings.

“On July 18, 2024, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced that electricity will not be cut off in populated areas and facilities in a 20-kilometer zone from the border with Russia and Belarus and in 20 kilometers of the front-line zone, and Kharkiv meets these conditions. In this regard, I appeal to you not to apply power outage schedules in Kharkiv and to do everything possible, within the limits of your powers, so that the residents of the frontline city have electricity around the clock.”, – said the mayor in the address.

The mayor also emphasized that a stable electricity supply is critical for ensuring the normal functioning of the city, especially in winter, when people need heat and lighting.

Terekhov expressed hope for understanding from the leadership of the regional administration and energy services and emphasized the need to support the residents of Kharkiv in this difficult time. He called for alternative solutions to energy problems that would avoid blackouts in the war-torn city.
