The Verkhovna Rada Committee refused to approve for consideration the draft law on limiting special pensions for prosecutors

The Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights refused to support for consideration in the second reading the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Laws Regarding Pensions of Prosecutor’s Office Employees”. The document provided for restrictions on the appointment of special pensions for prosecutors and employees of certain law enforcement agencies. About this reported Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev.

“We expected a positive consideration of the issue at the meeting of the specialized Committee and its subsequent voting in the second reading. Unfortunately, the clan system continues to resist. Despite the fact that the leadership of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights spoke in support of the draft law, the decision was not taken.” Hetmantsev noted.

According to him, “the resistance from the prosecutor’s community and some deputies who support them turned out to be insane.” At the same time, Hetmantsev expressed hope that the specialized committee will be able to make a decision in favor of the draft law and recommend it for consideration in the second reading at the scheduled meeting next week.

We will remind you that on April 15, the Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading draft law No. 12278 “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Pensions of Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office.” It was possible to do this only on the second attempt – during the preliminary voting on March 26, the draft law did not receive the required number of votes and was sent for a repeated first reading.
