In August, Ukraine exported a record amount of electricity
In August 2025, Ukraine increased electricity exports by 60% compared to July — up to 450,000 MW/h. Since the integration of the Ukrainian power system into ENTSO-E, this is the largest amount of electricity export in a month, reports ExPro Electricity.
Hungary (38%) and Moldova (29%) had the largest shares in the export structure. According to preliminary data, more than 170,000 MW/h were supplied to Hungary in August, while imports from this direction amounted to 110,000 MW/h. In general, during the period from June to August, exports to Hungary exceeded 380,000 MW/h, which is 27% more than the volume of imports for the same period.
Import of electricity to Ukraine in August increased by only 2.5% compared to July — up to 264,000 MW/h. Deliveries increased in all directions, except for Poland and Slovakia. Hungary retained the largest share in imports — 41%. At the same time, imports decreased by 44% year-on-year.
We remind you that in June 2025, the export of Ukrainian electricity increased by 2.5 times compared to May and reached more than 237 thousand MW/h. In July, the indicator increased by another 16% — to 282.2 thousand MW/h.
