In Denmark, the airport “Aalborg” suspended due to drones
Aalborg Airport in the north of Denmark was closed on the night of September 25 due to drones detected in its airspace. Their number and type are currently unknown, and the violation of airspace affected the activities of the country’s armed forces. About this reports police of the administrative region of North Jutland.
“Drones have been spotted near Aalborg Airport, the airspace is closed. The police are at the scene, conducting an investigation, the publication says.
According to the police, the actions of the drones had a similar scenario to the September 22 incident at the Copenhagen airport. It is noted that there were “more than one” drones, they were flying with their lights on. The number and type of drones are still being clarified, as is the question of whether they are the same ones that were over Copenhagen a few days ago.
“It is too early to say what the purpose of these drones is and who is behind it”, said a police representative.
Law enforcement officers added that the incident affected the armed forces, as Aalborg Airport is also used as a military base. Chief Police Inspector Jesper Bojgaard Madsen reported on cooperation with all interested authorities, in particular with the Danish Armed Forces.
We remind you that on the evening of September 22, the police in Denmark and Norway reported incidents involving drones in Copenhagen and Oslo. In Copenhagen, due to the appearance of large drones, the work of the largest Kastrup airport was completely stopped. At least 35 flights were diverted to other airports. Passenger planes were in the air for some time in standby mode, and one had to make an emergency landing due to lack of fuel. Airport operations were resumed around 01:00 a.m. after a four-hour break.
In Oslo, drones were spotted over the Akershus fortress military facility, after which the police detained two citizens of Singapore. Gardermoen Airport also had to be completely closed after several attempts to restore traffic as drones reappeared.
