In Lviv, a college teacher organized a scheme to avoid mobilization

The investigation found out that a teacher of one of the Lviv vocational colleges organized a scheme to receive bribes from applicants of draft age. For a monetary reward, he promised to negotiate with university officials about the enrollment of specific entrants to full-time education. This is reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The “clients” were men aged 25 and older, who thus received the possibility of deferment from mobilization. The cost of the “service” was 12 thousand hryvnias for admission. According to preliminary data, approximately 40 people of draft age were enrolled in the educational institution with his assistance. In addition, the teacher offered support – students successfully passed tests and exams without attending college, which allowed them to avoid expulsion and extend the deferment.

The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine when receiving the entire agreed amount. Under the procedural guidance of the Galician district prosecutor’s office, he was informed of the suspicion of receiving an illegal benefit to influence decision-making by an official authorized to perform state functions, which was accompanied by extortion (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail. Investigative actions are ongoing, all participants of the scheme are being identified. The investigation is being conducted by Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the National Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region under the operational support of the SBU Department in the Lviv Region.
