In Lviv, a man poured an unidentified liquid on the city’s mayor, Andriy Sadovy.

In Lviv, a 46-year-old local resident poured an unidentified liquid over the city’s mayor, Andriy Sadovy. The incident occurred on May 15 at around 10:40 on Rynok Square. This was reported by the Lviv regional police.

The investigative and operational group and officers from other services of the district police department arrived at the scene. The man was identified as a 46-year-old Lviv resident.

“On May 15, at around 10:40 a.m., a passerby ran up to Rynok Square and suddenly doused the mayor of Lviv with an unidentified liquid. The attacker was identified as a 46-year-old Lviv resident,” law enforcement officials said.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on hooliganism. The sanction of the article provides for a fine, probation for a term of up to five years, or restriction of liberty for the same term.

Later, Sadovy reported that the man poured a bucket of dirty liquid on him, after which he changed his clothes.

“I was going to work in the morning – a man ran up and poured a bucket of dirty liquid on my back. That’s all. I changed my clothes. I’ll wash my clothes in the evening,” Sadovy wrote.

Law enforcement officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. The final legal assessment of the detainee’s actions will be given based on the results of the investigation.
