In Odessa, the court chose a preventive measure for a suspect in the trafficking of humanitarian cars
On January 7, a court in Odessa imposed a preventive measure on a man suspected of seizing cars that were sent to Ukraine as humanitarian aid. During the pre-trial investigation, he will be in custody, but has the opportunity to be released after posting bail. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv District Court of Odessa.
According to the investigation, the suspect acted as part of an organized group and decided to make illegal profits by selling humanitarian cars. Together with his accomplices, he developed a scheme to seize vehicles that were imported into Ukraine for charitable organizations.
The man was engaged in the selection of cars and the organization of their import, noting that the recipients were non-profit institutions and charitable foundations. After that, the vehicles were sold through the online platform OLX, and payment was made in cash. According to preliminary data, the defendant received illegal profits in the amount of more than 750 thousand hryvnias.
The court ruled that the suspect will be under arrest, but may be released on bail in the amount of 988 thousand 400 hryvnias. The court’s decision has not yet entered into force.
