In Poland, adults beat a 14-year-old Ukrainian and threatened to kill him

In the Polish city of Olsztyn, a group of adults beat a 14-year-old Ukrainian. During the attack, they insulted him because of his nationality and threatened to kill him. This was reported by lawyer David Denert, who is leading this case, as well as the Consulate General of Ukraine. According to the lawyer, the attackers not only beat the boy, but also forced him to his knees and shouted insults about his nationality. They also threatened that if they found him, they would kill him and take him to Ukraine in the trunk.

The inPoland.net publication, citing the Olsztyn City Police Department, reported that the incident could have occurred during the May weekend in the Old Town. According to information distributed online, the conflict began after a 12-year-old Ukrainian, the brother of the 14-year-old victim, and his friend approached a group of Polish girls to get acquainted.

After that, a fight allegedly broke out between the teenagers, during which the girls began to insult and pull the boys. When the 14-year-old brother came to protect the younger one, one of the girls allegedly hit him in the face. Later, the girls called older boys they knew, approximately 20–30 years old. According to available information, it was they who beat the 14-year-old Ukrainian.

After the incident, the boy was in the hospital for two days. A report has already been filed with the police. Denert noted that the attackers are known, and there are witnesses and video recordings in the case.

“As a lawyer, I will ensure that this case is considered with all seriousness — not only as the beating of a child, but also as a possible crime committed out of hatred on an ethnic basis. “There is no consent for children to be beaten, humiliated and intimidated just because they are from Ukraine,” he said.

The consulate reported that they had taken the case under control and were in constant contact with the victim’s mother. They checked the boy’s health and made sure that the child was provided with the necessary medical care. In addition, the diplomatic institution sent official letters to the authorized Polish authorities to ensure a fair investigation and punishment of the perpetrators.

“We condemn and oppose cases of any violence, there should be no place for criminal acts and discrimination against people, regardless of nationality, citizenship, gender and age. “Respect for human rights and dignity, especially for children, must be a priority for all authorities,” the consulate said in a statement.
