In Slovakia, a schoolboy with Ukrainian symbols defiantly did not shake hands with the president of the country (video)

In Slovakia, schoolboy Simon Omanik, who won third place at the Central European Mathematical Olympiad, was distinguished by unusual behavior during the award ceremony in the presidential palace. While receiving the award, he defiantly refused to shake the hand of the country’s president, Peter Pellegrini. About this informs Dennik N.

The award was presented to the schoolboy by the Minister of Education Tomasz Druker, and on Simon’s clothes was a large ribbon in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. During the ceremony, the minister offered him to also shake hands with the president, but despite the fact that Pellegrini extended his hand, the schoolboy refused.

Simon explained his position by the fact that he considers the president’s victory in the elections unfair, accusing him of deceiving voters and manipulating the topic of the war in Ukraine.

“In addition to the perennial populist promises of cheap food and cheap gas that populists repeat at every election, he also accused his opponent of sending us to war in Ukraine. He would never have sent us to war, and if he had sent, he would not have any rational justification for this.” said the young man.
