In the case of a 16-year-old girl falling into a pit with boiling water, law enforcement officers detained an official of Kyivteploenergo

Law enforcement agencies detained an official of the Kyivteploenergo utility company after an emergency incident in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, when a 16-year-old girl fell into a pit with boiling water, which arose due to a breakthrough in the heating network. The victim was hospitalized with severe burns to the intensive care unit, and doctors assess her condition as critical. This was reported by the Kyiv police, Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the police, investigators detained the head of one of the company’s departments. A notice of suspicion is being prepared for him under Part Two of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns violation of safety rules during the performance of work with increased danger, which led to serious consequences.

In addition, a petition has been filed with the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the detainee. Investigative actions in criminal proceedings continue. The Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office is supervising the proceedings.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office clarified that the person in question is the head of the Pechersk District Heating Network Department of the Kyiv Heating Networks structural unit of the Kyivteploenergo utility company.

The incident occurred on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue, where a dangerous pit was formed due to damage to the pipe, which was not properly fenced off. The girl suffered burns to about 73% of her body surface. A 53-year-old woman was also injured, suffering burns to her legs after stepping in a puddle that spilled onto the sidewalk.

A criminal case has been opened under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine that provide for liability for official negligence and violation of safety requirements when performing hazardous work.
