In the occupied territory of Donbas, Russians deprive students of deferment from mobilization: Center of National Resistance
In the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, the Russian administration began to cancel students’ deferrals from mobilization into the Russian army. This was reported by the Center for National Resistance.
“Despite the fact that under Russian law, full-time students have the official right to deferment, these norms are massively ignored during TOT.
The military enlistment offices are taking advantage of the legal vacuum in the region, where legal grounds for exemption from service are actually non-existent, and the priority is to fulfill the mobilization plan at any cost,” the report says.
The Central Military Commission noted that students are sent summonses supposedly for “data updating” or “document verification”, but after arriving at the military registration and enlistment office, they are not allowed to go home. Documents confirming their education are ignored, and young people are sent for military training without any opportunity to appeal such a decision or obtain legal protection.
