In Transnistria, the industry has completely stopped working
After stopping the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine, industry in Transnistria came to a complete halt. About this reported Serhiy Obolonyk, first deputy head of the Transnistrian government.
“The crisis is so severe that there is no need to list which enterprises have stopped. All industrial enterprises are standing, with the exception of only those that ensure the food security of Transnistria. There is no energy resource for the industrial sector.”, – said the official.
He also noted that almost 75,000 households in Transnistria are left without gas, and another 116,000 receive it in significantly reduced volumes. At the same time, only on January 5 will it be finally clear how much electricity the household sector consumes. After that, the energy balance will show what can be directed to the needs of enterprises.
“The problem with gas supply is of such a global nature that if it is not solved for a long time, we will face irreversible changes. That is, enterprises will lose the opportunity to resume work.” Serhiy Obolonyk emphasizes.
A state of economic emergency has been declared in the republic. An operational headquarters for the period of the energy crisis, a hotline and heating points for the population are working. Apartment buildings do not have heating or hot water, and private houses do not have gas. Heat supply has been stopped in schools, in the vast majority of kindergartens, as well as in administrative buildings of state authorities and administration.
